Our Internship Programme seeks to connect our firm with the brightest junior talent which, through 8 weeks of extensive learning, development, and work opportunities, will form the initial pipeline for the 2023 Graduate Class. The Internship will provide you with an invaluable experience working in an Investment Bank and the opportunity to make genuine impact, interact with leading industry experts and potentially secure a permanent Graduate role at the firm.

As an Investment Banking Intern, you will:

Ø  Work within a sector/product coverage team to develop a broad understanding of different corporate and institutional clients within your team that will equip you with the client facing skills and transactional experience for a future career in Investment Banking

Ø  Have exposure to other sector and product teams within Investment Banking to further develop your understanding of different sectors and products to understand the full Numis Investment Banking offering

Ø  Monitor client share prices and news stories and review company results and market announcements

Ø  Assist with the preparation of pitch documentation, complete financial analysis and company valuations and build advanced financial valuation models with the support of experienced team members

Ø  Attend results and client / institutional meetings with senior team leads

Ø  Interface with other internal teams such as Equities, Legal and Compliance

Ø You are in your penultimate year of your university (this includes undergraduate and post-graduate courses)

 

Regulatory Responsibilities:

This role is subject to the conduct rules and (where applicable) the certification regime as set out in the FCA's senior manager and certification regime ("SMCR").  As a result, you should be familiar with the Conduct Rules and other SMCR requirements and act at all times in accordance with such provisions and standards. Further details regarding the application of the SMCR to this role will be detailed in the employment contract.

The Interview Process
 
 

What to Expect

Ø  Your application will be screened by the internal Junior Talent team

Ø  Selected candidates will be sent an online numerical and reasoning test, relevant to Front Office roles, to complete

Ø  Successful candidates will then be invited to First Round interview with the business to assess your interest in the role and Numis

Ø  Final stage candidates will then attend an onsite assessment centre which will include a selection of interviews and presentations and competency-based exercises

 

Our Top Tips for Success

Ø  Proof-read your CV and ensure it is up to date. Interviewers will review your CV and ask you questions about it and so it is important you set a positive impression!

Ø  Practice online numerical and reasoning assessments. There are lots of freely available assessments on the Internet that you can complete to familiarise you with the style of assessment

Ø  Research our business and be able to explain why you would like to work for us and in this industry

Ø  Understand the role and why this is the right role for you

Ø  Prepare for the interview. If you are invited to an interview, ensure that you have fully prepared by practicing questions you may be asked, considering how you want to present yourself and how you could add value to the firm

Ø  Stay calm throughout the interview process. Whilst it is easy to feel nervous before an interview, it is important to remain as calm as possible. Take deep breaths – there is no need to rush and no one is wanting to rush you

Ø  Ask (appropriate) questions. It is always a good idea to show your interest in the organisation, role and industry by preparing thoughtful questions for your interviewers
